Beyond the Door, Senoia Georgia

This week The Funky Shack Blog is going to be all about Senoia, Georgia. Senoia you say? Wondering what Senoia is? Well its only one of the cutest old small towns in the south. It was founded in 1860 and still has the same charm and character that I can only imagine has been there since the beginning. For more information on the history of Senoia click here.
To Visit BEYOND THE DOOR's website click here!
Our tour of Senoia is going to start with the very eclectic and charming shop, Beyond The Door. This shop has some of the most unique and original finds for your home and garden that I've seen this side of Atlanta. It has a lot of vintage mixed with original art, gorgeous furniture and much more. The lamps in this shop are AMAZING!
Definately one of a kind and worth going out of your way for!

This handcrafted lamp is a perfect translation of rustic elegance, absolutely breathtaking!

Looking for that one of a kind converstion piece? This one will do for sure! It looks great while providing lots of storage. It would be a great home for all of your special linens.

This piece is definately one of a kind!
You can pick the fabric of your choice for this chic little chair and ottoman.

Merry Christmas!

Maguires Irish Pub, Senoia Georgia

If you are lucky enough to live in the quaint little town of Senoia GA, you never would have guessed 2 years ago that it would look like it does now.
This small historic town has been restored and transformed into the place it was always meant to be. With all of the beautiful shops and yummy restaurants its like stepping into a different world.

As they say in Senoia, "its 25 miles and 100 years from Atlanta".

Nestled right in the heart of downtown Senoia is the best little Irish Pub in Georgia. Maguires Irish Pub is the true Irish experience. It's a traditional gathering place for family and friends, located at the corner of Main and Seavy Sts. As soon as you walk in the door you'll feel like you stepped into old world Ireland and you will be welcomed to the very best of Ireland on tap. Being surrounded by all of the rich wood and field stone fireplace you'll feel right at home.

The picture above is from a private wedding that was held at the restaurant.
For intimate gatherings you can reserve the private cork room, pictured below. For more information on reservations, please call Chris Fives or Frank Maguire at (770) 727-3020. When calling, please specify if you are interested in reserving the Cork Room for a private or semi-private gathering.

Imagine yourself gathered around the beautiful field stone fireplace with family and friends!

Wedding chair decoration

Here is a great addition to your wedding decor.
These wire LOVE signs looked absolutely exquisite on the backs of the chairs. I did 4 different LOVE designs and alternated them on all of the chairs at this wedding.
The guests were in AWE!!

I don't have the LOVES listed on my website yet but if you would like to order them please email me at: jen@thefunkyshack.com

If you order more than 100 they are only $5 each. If $5 a person doesn't fit into your wedding budget they are also available for rental at only $2.50 per piece.

Add that special touch to your wedding that guests will never forget!

Holiday Craft Idea

Here is a great ornament project I did for my nieces Girl Scout troop.

I made the form and the girls wrapped them with beaded wire. It was a very simple project for third grade girls.

Please email me at jen@thefunkyshack.com if you would like to purchase these stars to make your own ornaments. They are only $5 each!

The completed stars were so cute and the girls had so much fun making them!

Advent by Candlelight

I had the most wonderful night Tuesday night. I attended an event at my sister's church called "Advent by Candlelight". We chatted with friends, drank lots of coffee and had wonderful desserts. And as if that wasn't enough we were blessed with 4 inspiring speakers.
My sister and I actually hosted a table and invited friends to join us for the event. Each person that hosted a table was responsible for setting there own table. I wanted to post some pictures of my table and some of the other tables. Every table was so different and it gave me a lot of ideas for holiday entertaining. I hope you are as inspired as I was!
Have fun getting creative!!

I loved having a chance to disply some of my designs! Click here for step by step instructions on making a centerpiece like the one above.

These are the ornaments I made for my guests to take home.
They looked beautiful hanging on the centerpiece!

Instead of using a typical place card I put a different scripture on each one. A saying or picture would be a great idea also. This is something you can do yourself on your computer with cardstock paper.

This table was beautiful drenched in chocolate brown and the topiary centerpiece was gorgeous! Click here for a closeup.

These amazing leaves came from a Magnolia tree. They are so festive!
