Handcrafted gifts are always a great way to say "Thank You"
The smile on Lindsey's face says it all!

On the day of a wedding, it is our goal to make sure everything runs smoothly. In order for this to happen, there are months of prep work involved behind each and every event…and we certainly don’t do it alone! A few weeks ago, we hosted a staff appreciation dinner to thank our fabulous team for all of their hard work after the busiest spring season thus far! Our girls are used to working events, so it was a nice change of pace for them to be our guests for an evening. We wanted this dinner to be a very special evening for our team, so we took this opportunity to spice up the studio with our signature Funky Shack style. The delicious food and desserts were made by Contemporary Catering and our girls couldn't get enough! While enjoying our food, we reminisced on some of our favorite (and funniest!) moments of the wedding season, and shared lots of laughs. We would like to thank Tessa for joining us to photograph the evening. The dinner was a great way for us to say thanks to our team and to spend an enjoyable evening together.

We made these cute little tool aprons for our team in appreciation
for a  successful spring wedding season.
(We had a selfish motive behind this one!)

This Emily Post Weddings book from the 1960's still has all the notes
and guest list from our parent's wedding. My how things have changed!

Thank you again ladies for your amazing talents, long crazy hours spent on projects and events, and all the smiles and laughs. Can't wait for fall season to kick in so we can do it all again!

North Georgia Barn Wedding by Love Ya Jess

Brittany and Cody
featured in Papermoon Weddings

This one was close to my heart. Brittany contacted us last summer to plan and design her wedding to take place in North Georgia. At the time Brittany and Cody were living in Oklahoma where Cody is serving our country and Brittany is going to school.  We were so honored that she had complete trust in us to take care of all the details from across country. Most of the planning was done via text, email, and a little Skype. We never even met them in person until the day before their wedding.  It was such a fun weekend and their family and friends were amazing people.  These fabulous images by Love Ya Jess capture the excitement of the day.

I love this sequence of photos from the cake cutting. This couple knows how to have fun!

The Walking Dead in Haralson at our Studio

the funky shack
(This is a screen shot courtesy of AMC of our studio from this seasons opening sequence)

This summer when we found the most perfect studio space we had no  idea what was ahead in our future. All we knew was that we found a large space in a perfectly rustic building with lots of storage, a great area to meet with brides and a room just for doing projects. It is on a quiet serene street in Haralson which is only five miles south of Senoia, Georgia.
Well, that quickly changed as we became a filming location for The Walking Dead. I am a huge fan of the show so you can only imagine how excited I was to have this happening right outside our front door.
Now that the season is in full swing and they have finished filming for season 3, I thought it would be safe to share some of those moments with you.

The Funky Shack

This was probably one of my favorite moments.

We couldn't believe all the equipment and the amount of work that goes into setting up to film an episode. This is our side parking lot.

My son Noah was home from school "sick" and had to come to work with me.

My husband got to take a few hours off of work to come down and "help" us at work.

The other kids came after school to hang out while we were working. They were really good at being quiet as soon as they heard "Rolling." If only that worked for us at home!

I wish we had security like this!

You can't even imagine how hard it is to concentrate and work with "Rick Grimes" sitting right outside your window.

...Or "Daryl Dixon" walking around in his leather jacket with a knife strapped to his leg.

Then during one of our biggest weeks of the year with two big weddings fast approaching, we cleaned out our two back rooms to hold and transform forty zombies and some other extras.

It was such an exciting and amazing experience. Something we would have never imagined happening at The Funky Shack. Who knows maybe it would be fun to have a zombie wedding right here at a filming location. We would most definately be up for that one!

If you are interested in having an event at The Funky Shack give us a shout.
